Problem: Idle Supply VS Growing Demand

Billions of personal devices around the world, such as smartphones, laptops, tablets, IoT devices and home servers, contain unused computing power. In 2022 , the number of global mobile device subscriptions exceeded 8.5 billion ( World Bank ) , even exceeding the global population. However, many devices are idle for at least 8 hours a day or even longer. This unexplored potential not only means missing economic opportunities, but also leads to unnecessary waste of energy.

However, device owners are often reluctant to monetize their resources, mainly because of the lack of appropriate solutions, complex platform usage, unclear revenue patterns and high security risks. According to Messari forecast, by 2028 , the market size of DePIN (decentralized physical infrastructure network) is expected to reach US$ 3.5 trillion , and idle edge computing power is expected to play a key role in the development of DePIN globally .

Although AI ’s demand for ultimate computing power has triggered a market boom, in reality, most cloud workloads (such as remote work, video conferencing, data storage, and IoT management) do not require ultra-high computing infrastructure. Daily computing tasks are more suitable for distributed architectures , requiring low latency and moderate performance rather than relying on centralized high-performance computers.
