Opinion: AI Agents “take over” the memecoin and enters a super cycle

Forget the memecoin super cycle, AI Agents outperforms them all, and much more. Here’s how AI Agents price performance compares to other narratives:

The overall market cap of AI Agents narratives has increased by 7000% in the past 3 months (driven by new products), while Memecoins have only increased by 15.19%.

As shown in the chart below, considering the volatility of newly launched AI tokens, AI Agents has performed equally well over the past 30D, rising 75%, while Memecoin has fallen 25%.

There are several reasons to compare Memecoin to AI Agents:

First, the memecoin craze was driven by low float, high FDV VC tokens. Most AI Agents take these negative lessons to heart and launch with little or no VC funding.

What's more, many AI Agents tokens are launched in a similar way to memecoin on platforms such as Pump.fun or AI incubation websites such as Virtuals. They open trades at lower market caps, allowing early buyers to profit from the upside. Without memecoin, AI Agents may behave completely differently.

Second, AI Agents have a distinct, self-updating culture or even a “cult meme” with some practicality.

It's like aixbt continues to adapt to today's narratives and themes. They are also native cryptocurrencies, while OG memecoins are culturally imported from Web2 (with a few exceptions, such as $PENGU).

In contrast, OG memecoins are stagnant and require constant support from the human community to stay relevant/viable.

Finally, AI Agents successfully snatched market attention away from memecoin and implemented liquidity shifts accordingly. The author has previously witnessed the changes in one of his wallets:

Now the income of the wallet has increased a lot, but if you still hold these memecoins, the income situation will be miserable.

So, is this an AI Agents super cycle or a simple narrative rotation?

Crypto KOL redphone has mentioned in his predictions for 2025 that “ordinary” memecoins will launch proxy mascots/spokesperson bots (or the memecoin will begin to slowly decline until it becomes insignificant).

It's a bold prediction, but don't be surprised if it happens.
