Hong Kong 's Stablecoin Ordinance will come into effect on August 1, 2025

According to Golden Finance, the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government published the "Announcement on the Stable Coin Ordinance (Effective Date)" in the Gazette today (June 6), defining August 1, 2025 as the date when the Stable Coin Ordinance (Chapter 656) (The Ordinance) begins. Xu Zhengyu, Secretary for Financial Affairs and Treasury, said: "After the Ordinance comes into effect, the licensing system will provide appropriate norms for related stablecoin activities and is a milestone in promoting the sustainable development of Hong Kong's stablecoin and digital asset ecosystem."
