El Salvador officials: Will accelerate the purchase of Bitcoin as a strategic reserve, and the official Bitcoin wallet Chivo will be sold or discontinued

PANews reported on December 19 that the director of El Salvador’s Bitcoin Office stated that the official Bitcoin wallet Chivo will be sold or discontinued after reaching an agreement with the International Monetary Fund. He also said that Bitcoin will continue to be El Salvador’s legal tender and that El Salvador will continue to purchase Bitcoin, possibly at a faster rate, as its strategic reserve.

According to previous news , El Salvador reached a US$1.4 billion loan agreement with the IMF, and Bitcoin payments will become voluntary.
