Coinbase: Will not pay a ransom requirement of $20 million, instead set a $20 million bounty fund to track down attackers

05/15/2025·24DAccording to PANews on May 15, according to Coinbase's official disclosure, the hacker stole part of the personal information of less than 1% of active users by bribing overseas customer service personnel, but did not involve passwords, private keys or funds. Coinbase refused to pay a $20 million ransomware fund and set up a $20 million bounty fund to track down the attackers. If the affected customers are fraudulent and transferred money due to fraud, they will receive compensation. The Prime account has not been affected and the case is being investigated in cooperation with law enforcement agencies.
