When anything is intertwined with quantum, it seems to be instantly given a strong sense of the future and mystery. The same is true for quantum biology.

Just this month, the Quantum Biology DAO "Quantum Biology DAO" raised 1,724.02 WETH in a token auction on BIO Protocol, which was worth approximately US$6.886 million at the time. The amount of funds raised far exceeded the original target and was the target amount of funds raised. 1344.74%.

The auction attracted a total of 1,032 enthusiastic bids, of which 635 successfully concluded transactions. If these successful bidding addresses are regarded as independent investors, then each investor invested an average of more than 2.7 ETH (equivalent to approximately US$10,840 at the time). What is particularly striking is that one address successfully invested up to 71.6 ETH in a single transaction. In addition, another investor expressed an investment intention of up to 88 ETH in a transaction. Unfortunately, because his bid failed to touch the final transaction price, he was unable to obtain the token as he wished.

So, what exactly is this “Quantum Biology DAO” with an average investment of more than US$10,000 per capita? What mysteries and prospects does the field of quantum biology it is committed to promoting contain?

What is Quantum Biology DAO?

According to the article " The Future of Quantum Biology " published in the Journal of the Royal Society Interface, quantum biology mainly explores processes in organisms that cannot be accurately described by the laws of classical physics. Examples of typical biological processes manifested. In addition, the transfer of electronic and/or vibrational energy is included, as well as examples such as electron transfer and magnetic field effects in bird migration. Quantum effects manifest themselves as long-distance effects (such as electron and proton tunneling effects), with characteristic temperature dependence, magnetic field effects, participation of superposition (or delocalized) states, resonance effects, etc. Quantum biology could also have a huge impact on many technologies, including sensing, health, environmental and information technology.

Quantum Biology DAO (QuantumBioDAO for short) also believes that quantum biology has a huge potential impact on health and longevity, biomanufacturing and the pharmaceutical industry. QuantumBioDAO has discovered that the effects of weak magnetic fields in biology can be measured, affecting DNA repair, cellular oxidation (a key mechanism for maintaining health), and cell division rate (a core mechanism for biomanufacturing).

According to QuantumBioDAO, the impact of quantum biology will further expand to other fields and industries in the future. By properly configuring magnetic fields, we can make space travel safer and even foster life and ensure food supplies on other planets. At the same time, long-lived quantum states that are stable at room temperature in biology will also provide us with inspiration for building more advanced quantum computers.

What QuantumBioDAO is doing is to bridge the gap between basic science and traditional venture capital, and to build a bridge between experts in the field and the public. It will also actively carry out relevant education work to demonstrate the progress of quantum biology to the public. Close connection and importance, thereby attracting more attention and funds to this field.

In line with the QuantumBioDAO vision, it also plans to support the research and development of new quantum instruments. In particular, an optical microscope with nanosecond time resolution and optical detection magnetic resonance capabilities can directly detect the electron spin superposition state inside the cell without damaging the cell. In addition, QuantumBioDAO also aims to create and capture valuable IP, as well as accelerate the development of quantum biology and facilitate the launch of a series of quantum biology startups.

Quantum Biology DAO Ecology

The Quantum Biology ecosystem consists of three autonomous entities, namely Quantum Biology Institute (Institute), Quantum Biology DAO and Quantum Biology Incubator (Incubator).

Among them, the Quantum Biology Institute, a non-profit organization based in California, aims to prove that biology operates at the quantum level and lay the knowledge foundation for future research and commercialization.

Quantum Biology DAO is legally owned by a Swiss non-profit association (Verein) and is committed to promoting basic scientific research in quantum biology, building a bridge between research institutes and incubators, and strengthening the relationship between technical experts in this field and the public. Communication and connection. Quantum Biology DAO may retain relevant intellectual property rights, or fund the research and development of instruments and equipment, and grant licenses to multiple parties.

Quantum Biology Incubator focuses on incubating start-up companies that aim to commercialize quantum biology research results, with the goal of becoming the preferred provider of instrument equipment and laboratory space for start-up companies in the field of quantum biology. Although Quantum Biology Incubator has not yet been established, in order to more effectively coordinate the incentives of all parties, the institute and the DAO plan to hold part of the shares when it is established. In this way, any successful graduation from the incubator will bring financial rewards to the institute and the DAO, ultimately promoting complete self-sufficiency.

QuantumBioDAO Token Design

In terms of token economics design, the total supply of QBIO tokens is set at 1 billion. Among them, 20% of the tokens are allocated to the core team, which will be fully locked within one year and gradually released within eight years; 7% of the tokens are allocated to service providers with no release period. In addition, 55% of the tokens are transferred to the treasury; 15% of the tokens are used for community auctions with no release period; and the remaining 3% are used as community incentives.

As mentioned before, QuantumBioDAO has successfully held a community auction on BIO Protocol, raising a total of 1724.02 WETH and attracting 635 addresses to successfully participate. This means that 150 million tokens will be distributed to the 635 addresses that successfully participated in the auction. The closing price of the auction is 0.00001149 WETH per QBIO. If calculated based on the current WETH price of US$3,300, the unit price of each QBIO is US$0.03447.

As for the 3% community incentive part, QuantumBioDAO stated that it will formulate a specific incentive plan based on the actual situation and needs of the community after the token auction ends.

Where does QuantumBioDAO revenue come from?

Currently, QuantumBioDAO's main income comes from community auctions such as the above. Later, through the DAO governance mechanism, additional tokens can be sold directly to raise more funds.

Of course, token sales are just the tip of the iceberg for QuantumBioDAO’s revenue diversification. QuantumBioDAO will also explore various other monetization models, such as IP licensing, which will cover a wide range of areas, including but not limited to those related to magnetic field configuration, quantum biology instrumentation, authorized or anonymized patient data, or medicine processed and compiled by the DAO Interventions related to IP.

In addition, QuantumBioDAO also plans to support the construction of specific instruments such as quantum microscopes and plug-and-play low magnetic field chambers (to facilitate the study of weak magnetic field effects), and is expected to achieve profitability by selling or licensing these instruments.

It is worth mentioning that the commercial deployment of QuantumBioDAO's incubator will also inject new vitality into the DAO's treasury. Through the successful operation of the incubator and the deployment of commercial projects, QuantumBioDAO is expected to achieve continued growth and diversification of revenue.

QuantumBioDAO Roadmap

summary

Longevity and decentralized science (DeSci) are by no means just the exclusive domain of the wealthy class. They are gradually becoming more common public topics, opening up ways for more people to participate in the democratization process of science. However, we must realize that the research in these fields is highly complex, experimental techniques face many challenges, and scientific discoveries often follow a gradual path. Therefore, their in-depth development will undoubtedly require more ample time.
